Here in Phoenix I have not had too many issues. i get full strength signal most of the time and almost always 3g. however there are a few places i have that and still cannot get data, luckily its not often, and usually its in the evening which is probably heavy usage times.
You also live in a place without a lot of trees and which is relatively flat. It doesn't get much better for signal coverage. I live in an area that is about the same coverage wise and the 3G signal is ALWAYS 5 bars anywhere I go in town. 3G speeds are easily as fast as my iPhone on wifi. You and I have it good. I really do feel for people in densely populated areas like NYC and San Fran who have dismal service. You have no idea how good it can be.

By that same vein, what has Apple ever developed that's anything close to a OS ? And no, Mac OS X, a bunch of components bought/taken from the open source community doesn't count... it's just a Unix distribution with a GUI layer on top. :rolleyes:
It's easy to discount anything going with that mentality. The fact is, Chrome OS is as much an undertaking as OS X was. It's more than just a "Web browser" since web browsers cannot be booted and don't provide graphical sub-systems, input management and process scheduling obviously.
(yes, I do realise Mac OS Classic existed).
And to answer your question directly : Android. ;)

Pages needs real wordprocessing tools, like cross-references, bibliography, and an outline view. If that's what's in store with Pages 3, I'll be very pleased.
That said, I use Pages 2 every day already, for both copywriting and page layout jobs. It runs quite nicely on my MacBook.
As far as a grammar tool is concerned: that's a useless feature. It never works, in any app, on any platform. And people should simply learn grammar, if they want to write something. It would make much more sense for Apple to include dictionaries and thesauri for other languages. We're not all Americans!

I'm still on iWork 05, couldn't really see the need to update it every year so I'm waiting until iWork 07.
I agree that there is loads of potential in Pages, and found it very usable once I got used to it. I would also like to see a standard 'word processing mode' as using the templates as the main focus of the application doesn't work awfully well for regular word processing.
I also prefer the sidebar palette in Word as you can easily drop down multiple sections rather than having to have open 2 or more inspector panes.
These would be welcome additions and would definitely make me more likely to upgrade in the new year.

the iPhone doesn't compete against Android. The iPhone competes against all of the handsets running Android. And it's killing them. The 3GS as the second best-selling handset? That's frankly embarrassing for Android.
So tell me, in what world is having:
1 - the most popular handset
2 - the 2nd most popular handset
3 - the most popular mobile OS
4 - the most popular tablet

By definition, having alternatives makes Apple NOT a monopoly.
It is not even necessary that there _are_ alternatives. It is enough if others _could_ enter the market if they wanted. In that situation, you cannot increase prices as you like, because at that point others _would_ enter the market.

I don't mind as long as the pricing is competitive, if its over-priced no way I'll be getting one..
Apple would be smart to just start making regular TVs and charging extra for it. As a (can't think of a word) they are in a really sweet position where if they do start making TVs and charge a couple of hundred dollars extra compared to similar TV, they'll will still be able to sell plenty of them and make an insane profit from people who will buy their products no matter what. As long as it has that Apple logo.

I will give the microsoft zune a chance. But keep mind microsoft was created as a by-product of apple. I haven't had the best experience with mircosoft. Sooo I'm just curious.

And it would still very much be the iPhone 5 as in 5th Generation iPhone. Just like the iPhone 3GS was the 3rd generation iPhone to the iPhone 3G's 2nd generation status.
