If you have the LIN number, you can register here:
https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

This will tell you whether the last status was approval, RFE, denial etc. So based on the status, you can know what the letter was really for.

I have to renew my passport since it is expiring next month.

What is the specification for the passport photo? It it 2inch x 2inch or
is it 3.5cm by 3.5cm
I was preparing to use the same as that of GC process, 2inch x 2inch
but now I need to check this out...

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WE NEED TO TAKE A PREPAID POSTAGE ENVELOPE ? even if u attending in person..

A friend of mine has PhD in aeronautics from a top tier university here in US. He will be soon starting teaching in a university and planning to file his GC under EB-1.
Are there any risks in getting I-140 approved under EB-1? or just having a PhD does not automatically qualify anyone under EB-1 category.?
Since he is born in India so reluctant to file under EB-2 due to endless wait.

Generally, Just having a Phd degree is not enough to file for EB1. Every case is different, sometimes, it depends on the field of study also - so, consulting an experienced attorney is recommended.

Hello Guys,
I have been working with my current employer for last 3 years as Software engineer and filed for PERM last October (18th Oct 2007). My six year H1-B limit expires in January 2010.
Now I'm getting an opportunity to move into Technical Program Management internally (within the same company).
I have couple of questions based on the above scenario

1. Is it safe to take the new opportunity since I have to start over my PERM process (given the backlog in Atlanta center) and also given the amount of time left in my H1-B (approx 15 months left)?

2. If I file a new PERM application now, can I use the experience that I gained in this company as part of the app OR should I use only my previous employer's experience (which was 3-4 years ago and has little relation with what I might do in program management) for the PERM app?

You might want to wait until your I140 (substitution case) is approved unless your lawyer used that as basis for your 485.

I am working on EAD, if it doesnt come in time any ideas about the FAX # which you need to send your request? I have already opened an expedite request for my EAD by calling USCIS customer service, I just need the fax # and the cover letter format. I heard that even if you take an info pass appointment, they dont issue an interim EAD , is that correct?

Yes, if it's the same company - I think your employer just needs to file an amendment. I would suggest you consult with your employer's lawyer to see if an amended petition is even required in your case.

My Green Card is stuck at EB2 Stage but all this time I forgot that I have potential for a British Citizenship based on my birth place and Father being a Britisher.
Now can I reapply as a Brit - all over again hoping to get past the long queue. I am not interested in gaming - dont get me wrong - I had been in UK for some 5-6years working and am easily eligible for to get UK Citizenship that I did not explore. Now can I change the situation ?

For my marriage, I applied for her appointment at the consulate on L2. The date was set such that we would have our marriage certificate by then. When she went for the interview, she showed them the marriage certificate, and got the L2 approved.

If she is planning to change her name, then it gets complicated as she can only fix an appointment at the consulate after updating her name, passport, marriage certificate etc etc etc

You can extend apply for AP (Advance Parole) ;-) at anytime provided you have your 485 pending so there should be no "risks"

only risk i see is that what if you have to travel and for some reason your H1 stamping gets delayed (if you have a AP you will be safe there)

Also their processing times keep on fluctuating - what if you later down the road are
in need of AP apply for one and then dont get it approved by the time you want to travel

Personally I prefer to just keep things simple and apply for AP renewals even though
I wont use them - just so that there is no "divergence" from the norm
Just so when USCIS officer is processing your case they wont have to think or
issue query to get clarification etc etc

USCIS probably realized that many of us were calling and tried to give some relief to our tired fingers, instead of giving us the GC!

Hi all

I have been trying to use the POJ method to reach an IO but looks like USCIS has shutdown that option. After entering the receipt number it simply reads out the online status message and does not provide any option to reach a CSR.

Looks like eccessive status calls have caused this.

Has anyone still been able to use the POJ method today and if yes can u pls post the details ??
