I've an appointment in October at Munich, Germany consulate for H1B stamping. Because of time constraints I decided to get the stamping done when I'm out there for work. I've already obtained the german visa (though had to provide plenty of explanation !). This is my 9th yr extn (MS, EB2 - 140 approved)
- Can anyone share their experience at the Munich consulate?
- or, should I plan going to Canada and trying rather taking the risk in Germany?

I have experience with Frankfurt. They gave me 221(g) for security clearance. I had to wait in Germany for nearly 2 months. I think the likelihood of getting a 221(g) will be high.
Wherever you go, be prepared for 221(g) and a lengthy wait (3-4 months). I.e., make sure you have the resources to stay for that long a time wherever you decide to go.

My husband's employer told him that the 6 year H1 B stay cap has been eliminated since the year 2008. Is that true?
No. There is still the 6-year limit, unless the H-1B holder has reached a certain stage of the permanent residence process.

I am not a lawyer but was involved in something similar.
C can take you to court and stop you from being hired by vendor. It will be very difficult for them to push for damages etc. but thye can bring a stop on your hiring.
If C is a small desi consultant the chances are dim he will come after you. But if he is reasonably sized with lawyers within the company, you mgiht get a notice. You can take a chance, but usually the lawyer fees etc might not be worth the effort.
Your other option is to have your vendor buy you out - which means the vendor pays an X amount to C, and that frees you up from any contracts/non-competes.

Thanks Rune, that helps a lot. I am still wanting to know if anybody else uses this camera in the studio. Maybe this thread could evolve into something that others can post what they use. Just a thought. So far it looks like a lot of Canon users. Which is cool... ;) Thanks again. I'll check those links out.

Hi all,
I currently working in California and planning to move to Texas. Our company does not have a office in Texas .. so I will be working from home for the same company.
My I-140 is approved and 485 is pending for more than 180 days.
while AC-21 allows for changing employers with a different geographical location, is it OK to work for the same employer who does not have an office in a different geographical location?
Also, can we do H1B extension in this case? Any idea what my employer should show in this case if I work from home.

The USCIS will honor the procedure to register births or do a name change in the home country, i suggest you submit the documents that you referred to and also get a local attorney to attest to the local law in such matters citing the proper section of the law. Name change before the Court should be sufficient but better to get this verified.

I've just run a test - only when I update the control dimensions does the opacity interpolate correctly - what do I have to do to get this working without changing the entire control? Do I have to target the layoutroot and then set the propertytarget to the path of the child control of layoutroot to get the opacity anim to work?

Hi All,
I got my COS from H4 to F1 approved in first semester itself (Fed-2010), now my questions is I don�t have plans for going to India in next couple of years so after completing my masters can I apply for OPT without having the F1 Visa stamping OR should I have to get F1 Visa stamping in India in order to get the OPT after my masters.
You can get OPT after completion of your masters program you don't need visa for OPT .

You might want to wait until your I140 (substitution case) is approved unless your lawyer used that as basis for your 485.

You can take $5k each in cash. And unlimited if it is Travellers checks.ON Travellers checks you are going to pay commission and crap. I do not personally recommend it. I do not know how it is working now adays. You can check on department of homeland or customs website to find exact amount that you can take as cash. And do not take more than what is recommended.

I 've had a similar situation recently - where my H1B (with employer A) was about to expire and then another employer (B) had to recruit me, they filed for transfer+extension.
In I129 while filing, they would have to select (cant recall the exact verbiage) new employer (related to transfer) AND extension of current status. Its better to file this kind of petition premium. I got the new approved petition within 2 weeks with new expiry date as +2yrs, with start date earlier than the H1B expiry date (with A).

I moved to a new company and yet to receive my I-797 approved from INS. My old company visa is valid till May 2010. If they have not revoked it can i still travel out of country and come back?

Just wondering if anybody is giving up hopes of GC and switching from H1B to E3D (Dependent of Australian spouse) to take advantage of 2-yr renewable EADs...? How long does it take to get the initial EAD...Continue working without pay (or is there a workaround) while waiting for EAD?....any problems getting visa stamped with a 'yes' for past immigrant petition filed...

My case was filed on June 4th , 2007 & till now I haven't got my FP notice & no update on the EAD application.I have called USCIS few times.They said sometimes it can take up to 6 months after 485 filing
